Why do you keep getting spots on the same part of your face? Posted by Amy_SkinBase Why do you keep getting spots on the same part of your face? One of our most popular blogs on SkinBase was a past piece we did on face mapping. For those of you not familiar with this term, the ancient art of Chinese face mapping connected areas of the complexion with internal issues. For example, a spot between the brows could have been a sign of an ailing liver. Of course, spots don’t always mean something sinister, but if you find you get recurring spots on the same part of your face, you might need to rethink your beauty regime… The ancient art of Chinese face mapping connected areas of the complexion with internal issues. For example, a spot between the brows could have been a sign of an ailing liver. Of course, spots don’t always mean something sinister, but if you find you get recurring spots on the same part of your face, you might need to rethink you beauty regime… Ever wondered why every two weeks you always seem to get a breakout on your cheeks or forehead — in the exact same area? Well, the truth is that dirt isn’t the only thing causing spots. There are other factors that have nothing to do with your skin care regime. Things like your hairstyling products, waxing schedule, and hormones can initiate a breakout. You can often pinpoint the problem by the location of the spots. Forehead Stress It’s been revealed that during times of stress, we’re all more likely to develop spots on our forehead and cheek area. When you get stressed, the body begins to release cortisol, which has been liked to breakouts. It’s difficult to turn stress ‘off’, but you can minimize the likelihood of breakouts by sticking to a regular skincare routine and always removing your make up before bed. Hair products If your hairstyle of choice includes a fringe, it could be causing of exacerbating breakouts on your forehead. Overly greasy hair product or failing to wash your forehead properly due to not wishing to get your fringe wet are all likely culprits. Digestive system The forehead in chinese face mapping is also linked with the digestive system, so spots around this area could be down to an imbalance in your digestive system. In other words, you might be eating too much rubbish. If you notice spots in this area, try a week-long detox. Eyebrows Makeup Many of us are great at removing makup from our face, with the exception of our eyebriws. Just like all other areas, you are likely applying make up and product to this area. Forget to remove it and you run the the risk of dirt accumulation and breakouts. Glasses Those of us amongst us who wear glasses will know that they often get grimy throughout the day. Not only can this grime affect your skin, but the rubbing and pressure around the eye area can cause oil stimulation and the possibility of spots. Keep glasses clean and regularly pat away excess oil. Wax When you wax an area, you’re pulling out the hair follicles and that leaves that open to infection, you can very easily get spots and pimples in that area because it gets blocked a lot quicker. Try to get your eyebrow wax done in the evening, when you can leave your skin make up free for the rest of the day. Chin Hormones: When you’re on your period your body is on natural detox, – you tend to get breakouts in the areas where oil glands are over stimulated. This is often across the chin area of our face. To try to avoid this, use clay masks twice a week during this time to prevent excess oil forming. Upper Lip Makeup: Pigments in makeup often cause inflammation. Some lip colourings have F, D and C dyes, which are linked to causing congested skin and lead to breakouts. Make sure whenever you wear your favourite lipstick that you remove it completely before bed. To minimise your liklihood of breakouts throughout the month, make sure you treat your skin to a luxury SkinBase facial.
